Nitric Oxide Synthases I and II Are Localized in Neurons

چکیده
Recent studies [3] revealed that both nitric oxide (NO) synthase (NOS) isoforms NOS I and NOS II in the rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM), where sympathetic premotor neurons are located [18], are tonically active under physiologic conditions. The prevalence of NOS I over NOS II activity at the RVLM and the associated dominance of sympathoexcitation over sympathoinhibition may underlie the maintenance of basal sympathetic vasomotor outflow and stable blood pressure by endogenous NO. Chang et al. [4] validated this operational scheme by demonstrating that whereas all three known NOS isoforms are expressed in the ventrolateral medulla at mRNA or protein levels under basal conditions, only NOS I or II is present in RVLM neurons, and NOS III is associated primarily with blood vessels. These observations provide an important basis for further studies of the role of NO at the RVLM in central cardiovascular regulation.

Achilles Tendon Healing in Inos Knockout Mice
Nitric oxide (NO), a diatomic free radical, regulates the functions of many mammalian cells. We have previously reported that nitric oxide synthases (iNOS, eNOS and bNOS) are induced during rat tendon healing and inhibition of nitric oxide synthases (NOS) inhibited rat tendon healing [1]. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of deleting the iNOS gene on Achilles tendon healing in m...
متن کاملEXPRESSION OF INDUCIBLE NITRIC OXIDE SYNTHASE GENE (iNOS) STIMULATED BY HYDROGEN PEROXIDE IN HUMAN ENDOTHELIAL CELLS
Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expresses a calcium calmudolin-independent enzyme which can catalyse NO production from L-arginine. The induction of iNOS activity has been demonstrated in a wide variety of cell types under stimulation with cytokines and lipopoly saccharide (LPS). Previous studies indicated that all nitric oxide synthases (NOS) activated in human umbilical vein endot...

Nitric oxide (NO) is a molecule required for many physiological functions, produced from L-arginine by NO synthases (NOS). It is a free radical, producing many reactive intermediates that account for its bioactivity. Sustained induction of the inducible form of NOS (iNOS) in chronic inflammation may be mutagenic, through NO-mediated DNA damage or hindrance to DNA repair, and thus potentially ca...

Background: In vitro culture of ovarian follicles may preserve fertility in women with premature ovarian failure due to cancer .It seems that creation a condition that could maintain cellular communications and supports growth of follicles to produce mature oocytes appear to be essential. Nitric oxide (NO) has been recently shown to act with a dual action in mouse oocyte meiotic maturation depe...
